Accents in lighting and lighting fixtures
When furnishing
the interior of your home, you have a certain space that you need to use in the
best way. Lighting is one of the most important elements of interior design,
but it is often overlooked. Furniture will not have the same effect if the
lighting does not emphasize it. Lighting designers use three layers of light -
basic lighting (basic), accent light and lighting for specific tasks. Only in
this way can the vision of the room be improved.
Why do you need
such complex lighting?
Have you ever
been to the rehearsals of a big store? If the light is not good, you will not
see yourself well in the mirror, the clothes will not fit you well and you will
be considered less attractive with them. In such places, several types of
lighting are usually not made and this causes shadows. Of course, the exception
is the shops that are boutique and have taken care of the good light in their
rehearsals. When it comes to your home, it can not be compared to a store and
there you need to pay far more attention to lighting and lighting fixtures.
When they hear
the word lighting, most people think of a lamp that is placed in the middle of
the ceiling and scatters light everywhere. However, this is only the basic
lighting or the so-called main. And as with most basic things, you can't do
without it, but with it alone, you still can't. In order for a room to be well
lit, in addition to the basic lighting fixture, which must be above the ground,
ie it can be a lantern, chandelier, freckles in a built-in ceiling or other,
there must be additional accent lighting fixtures.
What is accent lighting?
This is the
second layer of light, which is both decorative and necessary and useful.
Thanks to it you can emphasize certain places in your home and interior. If you
have beautiful paintings, flowers, small trees or any kind of interesting
objects, you must highlight them with lighting to give your home individuality.
Accent lighting
is most effective when the light creating the focal point is three times
brighter than the surrounding space. Accent lights also act as secondary light
sources to drive away darkness and fill in places where ambient light cannot
reach. The types of luminaires that are commonly used for accent lighting
include wall luminaires, LED lighting, dim spotlights and more.
Accent lighting
should not only not remove shadows, but moreover, it should create them. If you
place an LED strip under a long pot with beautiful flowers, you will visually
lengthen the flowers and they will look great. If you have a small sculpture,
you can place accent lighting in the form of a sconce above it. This will make
it look like a stage. The sconces slightly blur the border between the
decorative and accent lighting, and can be placed in the corners, where they
can bring a small amount of light. In addition, a good approach is to point a
spotlight against the element you want to emphasize.
To decorate the
lighting fixture itself?
This is a very interesting approach that can diversify
the lighting fixtures in your home. However, if you decide to emphasize them in
this way, make sure they do not heat up so as not to cause a fire. The bold
decoration will win you applause, so do not be afraid to experiment. However,
always think in terms of benefits and comfort. If a lighting fixture bothers
you, but it illuminates very well, then do not sacrifice your comfort so that
you can get its effect. Replace it with something that won't bother you. This
could be, for example, a spotlight on the ground that you have to jump over, an
LED strip that is not well glued to the edge of the countertop, and others.
