What can be garden lighting?
Garden lighting can be designed in many different ways, but
many of them are neither functional nor contribute to its good appearance. We
decided to tell you about the rest of the garden lighting, which actually
beautifies the place and the good practices of application. Let's begin.
Outdoor lighting is what will determine whether a beautiful
landscape will open before your eyes in the evening or not. In this article we
will discuss the various outdoor lighting fixtures, as well as their quality
and durability.
The first thing you need to pay attention to is the amount
of light, because unless you plan to kick a ball at night in your yard, you
don't need to have huge spotlights. Most likely, in the evening you will just
watch your beautiful yard or walk in it, if it is bigger.
Tip from us: Do not overdo the amount of lighting fixtures.
Outdoor lights have 4 main functions. Here they are:
- Access: For the safe movement of people around the
property;
- Security: To discourage people entering the property
uninvited;
- Usability: It is possible to use the garden at night;
- Aesthetics: It is possible to admire the landscape around
the clock, both inside and outside the house.
What are the main types of light effect?
If we have to list them, these are lighting pointing up,
pointing down, a floodlight, path lighting and lighting behind an object. Let's
see what exactly it is.
Architectural and landscape elements such as buildings, walls and fences acquire a dramatic look when illuminated from below. It is most beautiful if the lighting itself is hidden and not visible, and only the illuminated element is on display. With good garden lighting, only the effect needs to be seen.
The lighting directed upwards must be mounted low below, and
the object can be a bush, a tree or a statue. It is also possible to be a
gazebo or a special seating area. The fixtures and the power of the lamp are
determined depending on the size of the object to be illuminated. If you want
to illuminate a large tree, then the lamp should be close to the trunk and on
the side so that the light can be directed to the crown.
Downward-facing lighting mimics moonlight and is usually
above eye level. It can be applied not only for aesthetic purposes, but also
for safety or security. There is a special type of garden lighting for trees
that direct light downwards. They are a wonderful way to create a sense of
perspective.
Spotlights are a highly focused stream of light to a single location. Spotlights are great for sculptures, statues, address signs or poles.
Garden lighting for a path uses low lighting fixtures,
sometimes LED lighting, which direct the lighting downwards and outwards. They
are placed mainly for safety and so that you can easily walk around the garden
during the dark part of the day. The perfect lighting for the trail is not too
much. It doesn't have to be too bright, in practice the light of more dilute
lamps will be enough for you.
The lighting that is placed behind an object manages to
create an aura around it. Most of the direct light is blocked, but the
remaining light makes the subject look as if there is a glow around it.
Exterior lights will cast shadows and create silhouettes, so
you need to be very careful about how you position it. Garden lighting that
creates silhouettes can also be specially designed for this. In it, the light
does not point directly to the object, but to a small object whose shadow falls
on a wall or canvas.
